That's all nice and neat but there are two main gripes I have about pokemon:

1)EVs - some pokémon will unavoidably be better than others of the same type. Usually the ones owned by people with serious social issues - but I doubt those people go outside so this point is less moot. And you can't clearly measure these either.

2)Legendary pokémon - since they're practically the best pretty much anybody will have a team full of legendary pokémon - which kind of kills everything to me. I really hate games where you pick a hero/creature with a pre-determined backstory(See League of Legends), and I'd much rather play a game where I can customize my character but won't become anything than a general in some army.

Combine this with the fact that legendaries have EV themselves and this kills any possible enjoyment for me.
