Kingdom Rush Level Difficulties (Opinions)

by ngue02 » Wed Dec 24, 2014 12:24 am

Write down the levels of each Kingdom Rush Game and write down how hard or easy it is the first time playing it (1 = very easy, 10 = very hard).

Remember that as you progress in the game, you earn stars and heroes, making the game easier. That's why I want you to rate the difficulty on how hard the level was the first time you played it.

All these levels are being judged on how they are on normal mode.

Kingdom Rush:
Southport: 1
The Farmlands: 2
Pagras : 4
Twin Rivers: 8 (Without good upgrades and heroes, this level is hell.)
Silveroak Forest: 2.5
The Citadel: 4
Coldstep Mines: 7
Icewind Pass: 7.5
Stormcloud Temple: 7.5
The Wastes: 3 (A good combination of artillery and archers makes this incredibly easy.)
Forsaken Valley: 7
The Dark Tower: 7
--------------------
Sarelgaz's Lair: 7
Ruins of Acaroth: 6
Rotten Forest: 7.5
Hushwood: 5
Bandit's Lair: 7
Glacial Heights: 8
Ha'Kraj Plateau: 8
Pit of Fire: 9
Pandaemonium: 9.5 (No doubt about it. Definitely the hardest stage in the series.)
Fungal Forest: 8.5
Rotwick: 3 (You're literally just spamming Teslas.)
Ancient Necropolis: 7
Nightfang Swale: 5 (There are no Spectral Knights or anything like that.)
Castle Blackburn: 8

Overall, I thought that some of the Kingdom Rush levels were unbalanced. To me, it felt like stages 7-9 were MUCH harder than stage 10. Level 5 also seemed a bit too easy. However, the extra levels made up for that. Those levels seemed well balanced: challenging, but easy to beat if you have a good strategy!

Kingdom Rush: Frontiers (I don't remember some of these levels too well.)
Hammerhold: 2
Sandhawk Hamlet: 3
Sape Oasis: 3.5
Dunes of Despair: 4
Buccaneer's Den: 5
Nazeru's Gates: 6
Crimson Valley: 7
Snapvine Bridge: 7.5
Lost Jungle: 7.5
Ma'qwa Urqu: 8
Temple of Saqra: 8.5
The Underpass: 5
Beresad's Lair: 6
The Dark Descent: 7
Emberspike Depths: 8
--------------------
Port Tortuga: 8.5
Storm Atoll: 9
The Sunken Citadel: 9.5
Bonesburg: 8
Desecrated Grove: 8
Dusk Chateau: 9.5
Darklight Depths: 7.5

Kingdom Rush: Frontiers was probably the most balanced game difficulty-wise in the series. Each level was slightly harder than the next, and they were ll challenging. The only problem that I had difficulty-wise was that I had a little bit of trouble beating levels 7-11, but had no problems whatsoever with levels 12-14.

Kingdom Rush: Origins
Grey Ravens: 1.5
The High Cross: 2
Waterfall Trails: 2.5
Redwood Stand: 3
Royal Gardens: 4.5
Gryphon Point: 4.5
Rockhenge: 4.5
Grimmsburg: 5
The Crystal Lake: 6
Neverwonder: 5.5
The Unseelie Court: 5.5
The Ascent: 5.5
Arcane Quarters: 6
Mactans' Retreat: 7 (I actually haven't played this level yet, so I am judging it through videos on YouTube.)
Shrine of Elynie: 7.5 (I actually haven't played this level yet, so I am judging it through videos on YouTube.)

Out of all three games, Kingdom Rush: Origins is the best one at steadily increasing the difficulty of each level. The problem, though, is that the game, overall, was too easy. There will be more levels in the future, though! Hopefully, those will be much harder than these levels!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that is my opinion on the Kingdom Rush games! Leave your opinions below! 8-)

I don't remember my 1st experience with any of the levels other than KRO. Even then, I can't really define their difficulty without changing my mind over and over again. Sorry. :?

Hardest level for me was Arcane Quarters on Iron challenge in KRO

Can't forget Twin Rivers Iron. The hardest level when the game was launched, to the point the devs had to make sure it was beatable on Hard before difficulties were added.

Yep, that stage was a real hell.

Pagras Iron on veteran was also pretty difficult for me.

Have you noticed that the more you progress throughout the game, the easier the challenges get? (Except for Dark Tower Iron in Veteran)

What about the Elite Stages? Fungal Forest had a pretty hardcore Iron mission. I think the later stages (mostly in KR) become harder because heroes are excluded, which are one of the biggest factors of victory in this game.

I pretty much forgot the iron and heroic challenges. The ratings I put were for campaign. :P However, I remember clearly in my mind that the challenges in KR seemed to get easier and easier, not harder and harder. Frontiers and Origins had more balanced challenges, though.

For Kingdom rush, only levels I found particularly difficult were the "iron" versions of rotten forest, fungal forest and twin rivers (sadistic Devs..).

For KRF the only thing I remember being particularly difficult was one of the island levels (sunken citadel iron?) although there were a few levels that were moderately challenging. Lots of nicely balanced levels.

For KRO, I didn't find any of the levels even remotely challenging.

Out of all three games I liked the original the best, mostly because I hate the rpg hero system as I think it breaks the difficulty challenge of the early to middle levels. I also liked the tower balance more in the original. Really felt like you had to use all tower types for optimal strategy (unlike KRO where you can just spam archers).

I need not say anything further.

That's actually a pretty easy level, even with mirage or Cronan.

LIES AND DECEIT.

THAT WAS THE ONLY LEVEL IN ALL OF KR THAT I FOUND DIFFICULT.

Keep in mind I'm referring to the iron challenge(and heroic for that matter) campaign was pretty tough.

I have to agree with Fan on this one. Sunken Citadel Iron was pretty simple, especially when compared to the other Elite Stages, in all their forms. Dusk Chateau Heroic for example, was a true test of skill. SC Iron was just spamming shrines to kill all the strong enemies.

I'm not hearing anything but lies and deceit.

But really, even Dusk Chateau Iron was easy for me, even with the permanent Full-Moon. Build a few more barracks, then spam mages everywhere else. The only level I found really difficult was the Sunken Citadel. Iuno. Maybe you all just suck. But whatever.

I said heroic, not iron. DC Iron was surprisingly easy. Almost as easy as Sunken Citadel Iron. ;)

I'm with juice box here. Dusk chateau on all modes was pretty easy for me. Maybe it just clicked straight away but I never really struggled. Sunken citadel iron took me a while to work out and that was probably the only KRF level I found challenging. I still remember when it was first released, where the majority of players were complaining that the Devs made it too hard! If only we could get that same kind of reaction with KRO!

Actually I take it back. I remember sunken citadel iron - I just spammed necromancers only to beat the level. It was either the basic campaign or the heroic version which was difficult. It was so long ago though...

KRO Arcane Quarters Campaign was extremely difficult for me first try. Took me four tries before i even knew what was going on. And a couple more tries tweaking my spending on ashbite and beresad.
