Updated with Razor's suggested format.
() indicates typing
{} indicates basic concept
Italics indicates final name
Plain text indicates specific concept

Fire starters:
-I'm liking Razor's Fire/Electric snake
-Fire/Steel Knight (Could also be used later imo) {Goes from a blob of metal to a full fledged knight}
-Fire/Rock or Fire/Ground Goat

Game names:
-Zinc and Tin
-No and Idea

Pokemon bed and breakfast

Sorry. I don't come much further than something really generic, like 'pokemon light and dark'.

As for the fire starter, I've been thinking about a fire/electric deer with electricity running between its antlers.

I like that. They'd rub their antlers against things to increase the charge.

Too similar to Ruby and Sapphire. They had Earth, Sea and Sky legends.

Changed the poll to Fire Starters

I don't think we should choose the names first, let's find a nice duality like Time and Space (DP) or Land and Sea (RS) that we can use as a theme for the main legendary pokes before the game name.

I had a triply idea last night...

Pokemon Kingdom and Pokemon Frontiers (with a special Isle of Origin post game)

It would have all the biomes we need.

Beautiful

Would still like to base it on a real place, but whatever.

That's a really great idea actually. The Linerea region sounds pretty awesome.

So are we continuing with the basic early bird, bug and normal type critter?

I have an idea for a bug type pokemon that evolves into a bug/ice moth-like pokemon. Normally, that would be a terrible typing, but the moth gets an ability that gives it an immunity to 4x effective moves. So instead of being incredibly weak to rock and fire pokemon, it would actually be able to set up on those pokemon with moves like quiver dance and sticky web. I feel like both bug and ice types are often overshadowed by more powerful typings and pokemon, so having two immunities to commen types might help the early bug pokemon stand out a bit.

That would be cool, but maybe later on in the dex. The early bug can be two or three stages and can still be a different than usual type.

Earthworm (Ground)
Maggot and Fly (Dark)
Pillbug (Steel)
Slug and Snail (Rock)
Aphid (Grass)
Bumblebee
Spitbug and Froghopper (Water)

Did some research into Dualities (for the legends):
-Body/Mind (Persay a Rock/??? type and a Psychic/???)
-Chaos/Order (Dark/??? and ???)

As for bugs:
-Another moth, Bug/Psychic?
-Whip Scorpion type thing (Bug/Grass)

Bug/dragon dragonfly... I can't believe nobody (including myself) thought of that before.

Because Yanma? Ok it's not a dragon type, but it is a dragonfly.

Some more dualities
Fact and Fiction
Good and Evil
Wealth and Poverty
War and a Peace
Life and Death
Negative and Positive

Y'know, I was just about to write the same thing, because for some reason I thought that a Bug/Dragon Mega-Yanmega exists, even though it doesn't...

I'll post some pictures later today.

Exactly. Yanmega really should have been a bug dragon pokemon imo. Or maybe Flygon.

If it does get to be Bug/Dragon then it needs to evolve in a difficult way to avoid it over balancing the game early on. Like Vikavolt does in Smoon.

I agree. Not because dragon is a very strong typing in the early game per se, but mostly because I'd prefer it to have good stats. Of course, good stats + early evolution is unbalanced, so that's why it should evolve at around level 35 or 40 or something. Bug types generally have lackluster stats, so a change to the formula would be nice.

When do you guys think we should work on the pokemon themselves?
I suggest after we finish the mammal and bird concept.

That's fine with me. We can create towards 5 or 6 concepts, and when we have those 5 or 6 we can work them out further.
