Arivan has a bad name and a bad portrait, and his abilities, while good individually, does not fare so well against the hordes that come: Lightning Strike is hopelessly wasted every time it activated, Icy Prison is nice but suffer the same issue, Stone Dance is far from being a perfect defensive skill, and Seal of Fire often kills very few enemies, then is wasted shooting at the ground. His basic attack is also quite slow, and has only average range, easily leave him vulnerable when enemies start rampaging on my defense, and Elemental Storm has a long cooldown and moves slowly, so is as not as versatile as Arrow Storm or Dragon Rage, while also deals a minor amount of damage to enemies compare to the recharge. He has only the plus of being an incredibly diverse hero, with cool quotes, but that do not save his uselessness compare to other heroes.

When using Arivan, his skills almost never miss. Of course, lightning occasionally hits a dying enemy, and fire can be wasted on a single enemy, but more often his skills produce a very satisfying effect, such as freezing a Hoplite or Bandersnatch. Besides, like Eridan's volley, fireballs can switch directions partway through.
In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I agree with razorleaf. I mean on the earlier levels hes ok despite almost dieing whenever he gets into melee (which is difficult to avoid if you dont constantly move him around) but he's very inefficient once the waves of enemies grow.

He's awesome against individual enemies sure, but while he's decimating one or two enemies, 10 more swarm him.

Survival > power.

He's a glass canon that fires very slowly.

That's his weakness: Crowd Control and melee. However, those aren't too bad since:

1) Seal of Fire is actually a really good skill, and it isn't easy to mess up with it
2) His other skills are great for singling out a target, aloowing him to pick them off and quickly thin out a group in not much time
3) He's a pure ranged hero. If he's constantly going into melee, that's the player's fault for not being careful.
4) So far, no strategy of mine has ever been hindered by having Arivan, so he isn't UP or bad at anything to the point where the game isn't beatable. His weaknesses are easily mended by having a working strategy.

the main issue with arivan is that most people have veznan, and veznan is so good it makes arivan look like poop
