Elite Hero skills are special skills that function like Rain of Fire, but they're custom made for each hero. Here are some options for implementation:
• It's manual controlled, with the same recharge time as ROF.
• It can have its own skill tree like ROF, with 6 levels. Level 0 has a local, low-powered effect, while level 5 has a battlefield wide, high-powered effect.
• Certain skills can cause conditions on the enemy (burning, poison, slowdown, etc).
• If it's too overpowered to use both ROF and Elite skills in the same stage, here are some options:
> Maybe there can be a menu option to choose between one or the other. However it's possible to use both and maintain some balance if the recharge time for Elite Skills is extended to say, 2 minutes. Either that, or Elite Skills can be single-use, meaning you can use it only
once in the stage.
> Some form of grinding could be implemented. So the hero has to deal a certain amount of damage before the elite skill becomes enabled (and even this could be compounded, so the more damage dealt the stronger the elite becomes). Or perhaps a rage meter could be used, so the skill is enabled after the hero deals a certain amount of damage. Either way implies some sort of way of "earning" the use of the elite skill rather than waiting for it to recharge.
Elite Hero skills is simply a suggestion for variety. If you would like to suggest an Elite skill, spill it.
