Can someone please explain what the shipping forum members thi ng was about? thanks

There was a rather intense debate over the cost and effeciency of shipping Big Bad Bag overseas to attend a Domestic Undergraduate Democratic Education program in Italy. He couldn't afford a plane ticket, but was curious about whether or not he could use UPS International, box himself up and ship himself over. Then everyone got caught up discussing the various additions and requirements that would be needed such as air holes, 'fragile' and 'this way up' markings, bubble wrap padding, air conditioning, a torch, energy bars, etc. The cost just kept going up, all the while everyone was chatting about how they would ship themselves and where to, and what courier service they would use. Eventually, it had become such a shambles of direct and indirect links to international and local transport services across th world that TaTs had to step in and declare the entire idea as idiotic and delete the thread. It was agreed that any discussion of shipping members be banned, if not officially, then unofficially amongst the forum members.
