Yes. Luckily it only happened a few times and we were able to use those concepts in the newer games. But we still have a few scraped ideas that will probably never see the light of day.

aww  would you ever post the blueprints on the interwebs just so we could see what could have been? please?

Maybe. Only if we are absolutely sure that we will not use them... so it might be a while before we show anything.

You forgot my question near the beginning of this thread.

Kinda hard to reply to that one. I'll ask around and see what the rest of the team says.

I've got one: Which game is Ironhide's personal favourite that they've made? Mine is still the original KR. :D

I'm the opposite, I think Frontiers and Origins > KR1 ,,, KR1 was a good start, but Frontiers and Origins are like gold and silver

What a wondrous thread! I shall begin with the following questions:

1. Was Origins made with a custom engine or a third-party one? (This may have been answered in the past, but if it was I forgot the answer or missed the topic where it was answered.)
2. What led to the decision to create a tower defense game in the first place?
3. How long did conceptualizing Origins take? That really leads into: how long, approximately, did the studio spend on each section of game development?
4. Do you have a favorite bot that constantly browses the forum? Google Bot seems the most charismatic to me.
5. If we were to storm the studio, what nearby item would you use to defend yourself?
6. And most importantly: does Ironhide have a favorite type of pizza?

Also:

bolin wrote:Origins lines of code count is 158129 right now, including updates.
This doesn't include code which is shared between all three versions of KR.

That's mildly terrifying, since the highest I've ever gone in line count is about 30,000 - 50,000.

I must repeat:
Will the prophecy of the great balance update ever come to pass?

More questions:
-Will this thread be the most posted ever?
-What is the favorite tower of the devs? (Individually if possible)
-Are explosions cool?
-What is your opinion of the world?
KRA is now complete.

Which Endless mode do you think is the hardest?
I just want a signature.

Ruins of Nas'de for how powerful the spells are. Rage Valley is also pretty hardcore.

I'm not a dev but I like answering the questions with my own thoughts. :D

Do you have any plans to make Endless modes for the rest of the KR and KRF environments?

And there are far, far more heroes with a European/Western theme. East Asia is a large and culturally diverse place, do not lump us into an abomination of a mishmash.

I have sent an email a while ago and received no reply.

Let me try here again.

Are you currently looking for investors willing to chip in some (not so big) amount of money? I am personally interested.
From past experience, I do feel you are walking in the right path.

Ooohoohoo, been wanting a thread like this for a while now!

Don't really want to burden Tats with questions, though, so I'll just say one for now:

Do you guys ever plan on releasing concept art for scrapped enemy ideas? Like what you guys did for the towers? 'Cause, you know, some of us here really like enemy units... hehehe :b .

Yes, I'm aware this isn't the thread for reunions, but it is a thread for questions! So, how have you been? Have you gotten over to New Zealand? :)

@xstar:
He still has the Dev tag, so, in the eyes of the forum, he is still considered a dev, and therefore, we can still ask questions.
I have 2:
A. What's it like at Ninjakiwi?
B. I assume you have kept in touch with all the other devs, right?

Manijure wrote:What is your personally most favorite enemy you helped design and make in Origins and why?

Being the newest Game Designer I had few enemies to design so far (I started designing them since Bittering Rancor) I would say that my favourite is not an enemy but a boss. Baj'Nimen is my personal favourite, I think he ended up being very cool and hard to fight against. If not a boss I would say that the Dark Spitter is a really annoying enemy I had a lot of fun designing and the whole "Taint" Mechanic that those enemies share.
