The guys will do some airwalking if when ordered to walk directly north of the barracks when they are on the bridge.
It's not a bug or a glitch, it's a special power the soldiers can use called "True Walk".

True Walk:
The ability to walk through any obstacle unhindered.
Sometimes they even like to go through walls and buildings like if made of thin air
