Tower Range Rings stretched horizonatally

I noticed that the range rings for towers are stretched horizontally. I am guessing this is because the view of the game is slightly tilted. Does this mean that when baddies are traveling horizontally on the screen they will travel faster on the screen than if they are traveling vertically on the screen? I would think they should, otherwise you would get off fewer shots on an enemy traveling vertically, as your tower range ring is "scrunched". Twin rivers is a good example of this, as the right route is horizontal in the beginning and the left route is vertical in the beginning.



Does anyone know the answer to this?

The reason I ask is I am using Kingdom Rush for my final project of my MS in Geographic Info Systems. I am conducting spatial analysis of the battle field, and am measuring the distance enemies take from start to finish, as well as analyzing tower range ring coverage.
