After listening to the ballad in the above link, inspiration ushered into me and I came up with a hymn to praise a Sovanesse king of the setting I presented you not long ago.

(The context: It's about a war between two huge churches, a polytheistic catholic-like, vengeful not!Christianity and a monotheistic orthodox-like, merciful church. Vagov is a Sovanesse king that fights for the Orthodox-like religion. This song relates the legendary tale of when he was chased by the Trinitons near a city he should have defended)

(Listen to the song, it fits)

(Trinitons are the polytheistic and corrupt catholics.)

*Grim melody. Similar to the beginning of the song above*

In the city, under the heathen swords nobody was spared
All the men, women, priests and children cried.

King Vagov and his few men remained into the caves
While the heretics chanted their vengeful praises

Through deep prayer they heard the enemy clatter
They knew that for them there would be no more later

But faith was getting dimmer and dimmer
The king's end was coming sooner and sooner

*Heroic. The chours part, but extended.*

But Vagov placed his horn to his mouth and blew with all his faith
Since then the heavens thundered on for three days straigth!
*chours*
The heretics dropped their swords in mindless fright
Their gods have retreated upon seeing Lord's might!
*chours*
With divine fury the skies blackened and thundered
All across Vrahia Trinitons were justly burned!
*chours appear for the last time and then die down.*

*Peaceful. Not in the song above, feel free to imagine any melody*

The story's truth can be still seen today
Where Vagov built a little abbey

To remind of the ungodly carnage
And of the Trinitons' evil rampage

It's more of a ballad/religious song, but, well, yeah.

I'm aware it's not excellent, but constructive criticism is very accepted

Smote is the past tense of smite. Smitten means that you're in love. I've made the mistake between the 2 before, as well, so I just thought I'd let you know. ;)

Personally, poetry is alright to me. It's an artform and people can express themselves the way they want. I honestly prefer other mediums just because there is more appeal to the senses, so I feel like I may not be one to judge the quality of your writing.

I realize that this is a thread revived by a bot, but I would like to take this opportunity to semi-correct BBB's 3.5ish year old grammar. :P

While "smote" is the past tense of "smite", "smitten" is simply the past participle of "smite" and the definition BBB gave is the modern colloquial meaning.

Also, poetry is lit.

Are you sure it’s not “smotened”?

I'd like to hear and watch this. You know, with main singer and chorus and costumes. That may be a great show!
This kind of poetry is better when you hear it with all that spectrum of intonations author thought about while wrote.
