I'm assuming you are talking about KR.

For the existing games I'd say it's hard because they weren't designed with this in mind. In the steam version of KR, for example, all levels are created within unity, which means we'd have to rework completely how the level's data is stored, loaded, saved, etc.
Also, there are "higher level" questions: do we let people draw whatever background they want and load it as the art for the level? Or do we have custom base terrains for grass/dirt/wasteland where you can draw paths over, place props like trees, water blah blah?

In a new game making an editor should be easier. For a tower defense game I'd say they most work would be in the UI design and not programming. Make a good, easy, accesible UI to design waves, paths and whatnot.

There hasn't been any talks regarding this (that I know of).
It's not my call but I think it could happen, I'll float the idea around and see what happens. I'm pretty sure everyone would be okay with both.

Yes and no.
The barracks issue is a real thing that has to do with limitations of the engine, so I think it will probably work better. But the tower price is a balance decision, not a bug. You might have good reasons to disagree with it, of course, but it's not something that we consider broken... it doesn't mean we will not change it though. Just trying to clarify.

About having time to fix things, then yes, KR4 is currently on the early stages of development. So many things can be improved at this point. ;)

1) No. This means that we will try to reach the 15 level mark. Iron Marines levels are considerable larger than the average KR map, so at first we were going to make only 10 levels.
2) Something of the sort.
3) Similar but not the same. We will do something different for the Hero system.
4) The newsletter will be sent between today and Monday, depending on some revisions that are pending.
5) Yes and no. Most of us watch Extra Credits, but the design advices they provide are a bit on the beginner level (nothing wrong with that, but they aren't really saying anything we didn't know already). We do enjoy the series though, specially when they ponder about the direction of the video game industry or some other complex issue.

Eridan is too focused on getting better as a Ranger so he can be closer to Alleria to notice Catha's feelings. Alleria knows about both Eridan's and Catha's feelings because, of course she do, being smart and level-headed. She doesn't really mind though. She is young but already has a grown up attitude towards the whole thing.

Eridan would be ashamed if he realised that Alleria knows about him. He would be very confused and flustered about Catha's feelings, and eventually realise that she is going through exactly the same thing as he is... unrequited love. That doesn't means that he'll choose the pixie over the elven princess.

Catha would be jealous, but she respects Alleria too much to hate her. She would also stay optimist and undeterred in her intent to conquer Erindan's heart.

Alleria would pretend she doesn't know, unless either Eridan or Catha bring it up, in which case she would try to be the voice of reason and keep her feelings to herself.

Will Kalio, the studio that handles the KRF port for Steam, improve the original KR too after they finish with KRF? :)

The original KR is a closed book for now. We're moving forward with a whole bunch of projects that require all of our attention.

Maybe for the 10th year anniversary we'll do something, you never know ;p

When you post a trailer for Iron Marines with gameplay included, will it be posted a week or two before the release of the game, as it was with KRO, or sometime earlier- e.g; a month or two before the release??

Also what are Liliths ranged weapons??- because apparently they're not chained bolas- you shut that idea down. :( Now I'm just plain confused- because I thought that throwing chains were reserved for oil rigs. That being said you should make a hero or tower that utilizes chained bolas. Otherwise I will pioneer a chained bola uprising- when I'm not at the forfront of my propeller domination campaign that is. :P

We are not sure when we will release a full official trailer for Iron Marines, maybe a bit earlier than we did for KRO.

You keep using the word "bolas"... we call that specific weapon "boleadoras" here in South America, but even then, you are mixing the weapons Lilith uses.
The weapon you describe is composed of a cord (usually made of braided leather strings or rope) with two spheres made of stone, bone or some other hard substance... it's used to immobilise targets as much as to do damage. It was used by natives in Uruguay, Argentina and the Inca Empire. It's a throwing weapon, you swing it to gain momentum and then throw it at your target.

The weapon Lilith uses is a variation of the kusari kama. A scythe (kama) with a metal chain (kusari) and a heavy metal weight (fundo) at the end. This is not a "throwing" weapon, it works more like a whip or a laso. The chain can be used to either hit or capture your target before you deal a killer blow with the scythe.

Kara is more like the Malik of Iron Marines. Tough, damage dealing, brave.

We totally could give a sneak peek of the alien ninja thingies, I'll take it to the IM team and if they are ok, I'll share some images. :)

I don't know if this has been asked before, but are you ever considering making the company have different locations?

And the other question I am almost sure has not been asked before. If someone made a version of kingdom rush, but did not sell it, they basically took the game and changed it a little, for example making the level 4 towers look and preformed different, would that turn into a huge lawsuit, even though they did not sell it or make any profit off of it?

We consider it but we are far from it yet. Overexpanding is a very common way to kill your own studio. In fact, we might've grown too fast already.

About your other question... If I understand copyright laws correctly, only commercialising and distributing are illegal. You can make your own version of whatever you want and keep it to your self.
Do keep in mind though, that "distributing" is an important word here. It doesn't matter if you are not making a profit. Giving away some one else's intellectual property for free is equally hurting to the original creator. That's why torrents are illegal.

My two cents about this is, if you are skilled enough to make a version of a KR game, then why not push it further, change things, create your own visual style and compete fair and square?

Its probably easier for them to use a game which is already successful like KR. It would be nice if we could see some more games in different categories as well though. e.g. A reverse tower defence, maybe some flash games that would otherwise not be made into apps. I have no clue about the laws for that though. I personally would love too see strike force heroes, raze and the kings league odyssey (and many other games) in app form.
