How hard was it to make the original Kingdom Rush? Did you ever feel like giving up?
The studio co-founders spend a whole year working overtime to make the first game.
They were super motivated so "giving up" was probably not in their vocabulary... although, the exhaustion of that first year probably hurt their sanity quite a bit.

And what games did you used to play before starting to make the original Kingdom Rush?
A ton of tower defence games where used as an inspiration. The idea was to improve on the genre.
Castle Crashers, the Warcraft series, LOL and Dungeons and Dragons were a huge inspiration.
Each dev has his own favourite games. On a side note, the studio co-founders were also the creators of Uruguay's official LANparties, so they've been involved with video games for quite some time, even before they were developers.

On a game related-question, will you ever make it possible for customers to buy heroes and/or KR games with SMSes on mobile versions?
Yes. Most Uruguayans are very much aware that the living conditions in our country are quite stable and satisfactory in comparison to a lot of other countries. However, Uruguay is still a third world country with tons of poverty, low income families, no heavy industry of any kind, increasing crime due to the expanding influence of Latin American drug cartels and the constant pressures of bigger countries that are constantly pushing us around. Long story short, it's not perfect by a long shot, but it's a great little country.
The problem with payment through sms is that each country has one, if not several, mobile services companies, each with their own commercial agenda and policies. We would be forced to negotiate terms with each and every company out there in order to be able to charge for our games. In that sense, Google Play, Amazon, Steam and Apple are much more easy to death with... they terms and conditions apply to every country.

When the steam version releases(unless it has haven't checked), will u add a workshop page where we make our own custom heroes to be modded into the game(as well as mini campaigns and stuff.)
Very, very unlikely.
The game's engine is a somewhat delicate thing as it is. When you make a game, you need to plan way ahead for each feature, so if you want the players to be able to customise Heroes and levels, that needs to be taken into account during the early stages of development.
